An Indoor Picnic with Anna’s Circle and Hope Restored
Anna's Circle and Hope Restored enjoyed an indoor picnic on Saturday, June 13. The Kitchen Band of Good Shepherd Church in Indianapolis provided the entertainment for the afternoon. The band sang and acted out many of our favorite old songs: Me and My Shadow, Red Roses for a Blue Lady, Side by Side, and Second Hand Rose. The ladies also enjoyed a delicious box lunch from Ricci's Deli.
Pastor Jan Billups spoke to the Annies at their birthday luncheon in June and then gave out special pink shirts that she had made for them. The shirts say “Annies Are Too Blessed To Be Stressed.”

Anna’s Circle and Hope Restored Tour the Governor’s Mansion
Anna’s Circle and Hope Restored toured the Governor’s Mansion on April 28. The women discovered that anyone could rent the public rooms for their own extravaganzas! Miriam Long was invited to play on the mansion’s $50,000 grand piano. She serenaded us with a flawless version of “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” Following the tour, they went to the L.S. Ayres Tea Room at the State Museum to have a wonderful lunch, including its famous Chicken Velvet soup.

Dynamic Women In Missions Spring Teas
Wow! In April, we had three fantastic evenings of sharing by four incredible women of faith. Over 100 ladies came to hear Bette Crouse, Shirley Carlson, Susan Brabon, and Sam Laird share their missionary experiences. A common theme during the three evenings was to reach out to women “who need something more than the world tells them they need.” THEY NEED HOPE! As Christians, we are called to go out and spread the good news wherever we are: in our homes, our backyards, our workplaces, our communities, our country, or even to distant areas of the world. Listen to the needs and share Christ with others. Give them something more! Give them the hope of Christ!

Meet Michelle Peters
In March, we met Anita Czajkowski, the wife of our senior pastor, Steve. This month, we would like you to get to know Michelle Peters, our associate pastor Brian’s wife, in her own words:

Michelle is the youngest of four children and a life-long Hoosier. She is the wife of Brian and the mother of Tay, Amanda, and Lucas. She has a college degree in communications with a minor in romance languages. But who is the real Michelle?

The real Michelle is a bit daring, so daring that she often embarrasses her kids—and Brian—with her antics. Like driving on the sidewalk in front of a skating rink because of a dare, or wrestling with her son just because she could. She also tends to be fearless to the point of occasional physical injury. Like the chopped off thumb-tip from hedge trimmers gone wild, or the broken ribs from climbing on counters in the garage to get to the very top for cleaning.

Then there's the whole work thing. Let's just say change is not a problem for Michelle: retail clothing sales; sales manager for a local hotel chain; public relations specialist; nursery coordinator for CCG; lab candidate assessor for Lilly; document librarian; not to mention, of course, full-time mom.

Spare time interests? Spare time, what's that? Well, if there were any, Michelle would spend it outside transforming the landscape, planting flowers, mowing the grass, or just soaking up the sun. And, of course, there are the kids’ activities. If you get a chance to attend a basketball game or band competition with Michelle, be sure to take your earplugs! The cheerleaders have nothing on her!

And Michelle's claim to fame? Well it's not being married to Brian (as much as he might think so). Actually, Michelle has connections to a couple of famous people. While attending Hanover College pursuing a major in theater and communications, Michelle acted on stage with Woody Harrelson, who later went on to TV and film fame. Later, while working in the hotel industry, she worked with the secret service to arrange a visit for then-Vice-President George Bush, whom she met. The autographed picture is in Brian's office to this day.

Pearls of Wisdom III Celebrates!

WOW! Women connected, made new friends, were impacted through relevant Bible studies, and got better acquainted with “hands-on” cooking demos. Beth Wright, a working wife, inspired the group with amazing meals that everyone prepared together. Bible study leaders—Esther Latino, Shirley Carlson, Bonnie Meier, and Marge Dietel—made the Bible live. The final celebration on March 23 was an unforgettable gourmet dinner by Beth Wright, along with special music and testimonies. The results: new friends and prayer partners, new ideas about cooking and hospitality, and personal growth in Christ. Be sure to contact Lora Wilson (738-3239) or Valetta Crumley (888-2304) to get your name on the list for the fall class starting in October.

Dynamic Women In Missions Ecuador Trip

Shirley Hoff, a staff member at CCG, went on a mission trip to Ecuador in March. Please read what Shirley has to share about her experience:

On March 21, I became a member of a dedicated TEAM of seven ladies for a week in Ecuador. Sam Laird and Susan Brabon, directors of Dynamic Women In Missions, coordinated the trip. Also participating were women from Indiana, Oregon, and Northern Ireland. Although we represented different ages, life stages, and parts of the world, we came together for that week bringing the Truth of the Gospel, an Expectation of what God would do in and through us, an Attitude of service, and a Mind for ministry. What a TEAM!
In Ecuador, we listened as the missionary wives shared the joys and struggles of their ministries. We prayed with and for pastors and their wives as they shared their desire to tell their neighbors about Christ and see their churches grow. We experienced the ministry of a college girl showing love to a group of children in a very poor community. And we stood in the plaza in Guayaquil and on the portico of the President’s Palace in Quito and prayed for the government leaders. As part of a TEAM, you can do things you cannot do by yourself. We will never know all that was accomplished that week by our TEAM or what will be accomplished in the days to come, but we will continue to remember these women in our prayers.
For more information about the next Dynamic Women In Missions trip to Spain, October 2–11, contact Sam Laird (730-7705).

WHO WE ARE:
"We’re 18-29. Post-high school. Pre-family. We’ve decided to follow Christ, and now we’re trying to figure out what that looks like. For some of us, it’s just been a few weeks or months. For others, we’ve been working at this for years. But one thing we’ve all discovered: it’s better when we do it together."

We're taking a break for the summer, but check back in about a month for details about the fall schedule.

Class 101 is designed to be the first point of connection for those considering Community Church as their church home, for a season or for a lifetime. As the first of our four foundation courses, it serves as the biblical overview of the foundation from which our theology and community springs, and is a requirement for membership at Community Church.

The next Class 101 is Sunday, August 9, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Childcare is provided. The class includes an overview of our church and our core values, as well as how we're structured and how we operate on a day-to-day basis.

If you're considering Community Church as your home, then Class 101 is the place for you!

Questions? Contact Delora Craig at x257 or by email.

Jesus said to begin in Jerusalem when he gave the command to be witnesses of the gospel (Acts 1:4). Therefore, we believe it is important for us to reach not only around the world, but around the corner with the message of the gospel.

One of the things that God has been placing on our hearts, as a church, is the importance of meeting tangible needs in practical ways as a means of introducing people to Jesus. We've done that by serving a community meal on Thanksgiving day, wrapping gifts for free at the mall during the Christmas season and providing free food to those who need it.

Help for Marriages - Marriage

We provide three primary forms of marital assistance: premarital counseling for engaged couples; marriage coaching for any couple seeking to improve their level of satisfaction in marriage; and short-term crisis counseling for couples dealing with marriage-threatening issues.

Our approach to helping couples is based on a few simple concepts:Marriage is not easy. But it can be good. In fact, with a little guidance, some hard work, and a lot of prayer, it can be great.
There are no perfect marriages. There are no hopeless marriages. There are only marriages in need of various degrees of help.Every marriage can improve with increasing levels of LOVE (being willing to value your partner and being unwilling to devalue your partner), WORK (being willing to invest time and energy in your marriage) and FAITH (believing that your marriage can be satisfying).

What to Expect

Based on these understandings, we pursue a short-term "coaching" approach with the majority of couples. The process works like this:Complete our online Information Form. We will then contact you with an initial assessment appointment date. You will also receive from us a Marriage Questionnaire to be completed by both you and your spouse prior to the appointment.
Bring the completed Questionnaire to your initial assessment appointment, where we'll review your situation and and collect certain additional information. After the initial assessment appointment you'll receive a written report from us summarizing your situation and our suggestion for proceeding.
Assuming you decide to continue, we'll meet for 5 to 8 additional sessions, coaching you to implement new strategies in the areas identified in the written report that will ultimately increase the level of satisfaction in your marriage.

Our premarital counseling involves six one-hour sessions, with limited additional work outside of the sessions, that will help an engaged couple build a marriage on a lasting and solid foundation.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, click HERE to complete a basic information form. We will then contact you within 24-48 hours to schedule your initial assessment appointment.

If you have additional questions prior to scheduling an appointment, email Brian@ccgonline.org.
