Statement of Faith
At Community Church we believe in:- The Bible as the inspired, infallible Word of God; the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12,13).
- One God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14).
- Jesus Christ, His deity, virgin birth, sinless life, vicarious death, burial and bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal future return in power and glory. (John 1:1, 2, 14; Luke 1:35; Rom. 3:24; 1 Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3–5; Acts 1:9, 10; Heb. 7:25, 9:24; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:1–2)
- The sinfulness of man and salvation only by grace through faith in the shed blood of Christ. (Gen. 1:26, 27; Rom. 3:22, 23, 5:12; Eph. 2:1–3, 12; Eph. 1:7, 2:8–10; John 1:12; 1 Peter 1:18–19).
- The present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (John 16:8–11; 2 Cor. 3:6; 1 Cor.12:12–14; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 5:18)
- The resurrection of the dead, the believer to life everlasting and the unbeliever to the resurrection of judgment.
- The church as the body of Christ, for which He will return, as composed of all who have accepted the redemption provided in Him. (Eph. 1:22, 23; 5:25–27; 1 Cor. 12:12–14; 2 Cor. 11:2)
Interpretation
The Statement of Faith is to be considered a strong evangelical statement, allowing for differences with such doctrines as the security of the believer and the fullness of the spirit. Persons feeling a strong commitment to doctrinal distinctives would probably not feel comfortable within the Church’s fellowship. Printer Friendly Format
